The prestigious event will be held September 9-11, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan in the heart of New York City.

This year ZEE TV has partnered with Couture Fashion Week New York which was founded in 2005 and presents a series of couture and luxury fashion shows in New York City, Cannes and other selected cities.

Tishynah Buffalo Blends the Modern and Traditional at Couture Fashion Week NY

Tishynah Buffalo fashion show at Couture Fashion Week NYCanadian First Nation fashion designer Tishynah Buffalo will make her debut at Couture Fashion Week New York with the presentation of her latest collection at 6:00 pm on Friday September 9, 2016. Part of the 24th season of the prestigious event, the fashion show will be held in the Broadway Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, in the heart of the Big Apple.

A member of the George Gordon First Nation, Tishynah Buffalo has had a love of fashion design since a young age, and a special talent for beading and hand sewing garments and accessories. Her design career began with beading for her children and creating Pow-wow regalia. She soon expanded her designs which are a distinctive and elegant blend of the modern with the traditional. The vibrant Chief Joseph print is the trademark of her fabrics.

Within the past year, Ms. Buffalo has shown her designs at a number of high profile Canadian fashion events including Western Canada Fashion Week,  International Indigenous Fashion Week, and Fashion Speaks Regina, among others. She is now poised to expand her fashion business and brand on an international level. She is looking to showcase her indigenous creativity to the world, with  the message that First Nation designs are beautiful, classy, and original and cannot be replicated.

Dare to Be Gold Collection by Vanny Tousignant at Couture Fashion Week

Vanny Tousignant fashion show at Couture Fashion Week NYRising design star Vanny Tousignant will present her latest collection at Couture Fashion Week New York’s 24th season. The runway show will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday September 11, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway, New York City.

A native of Indonesia, residing in New York City for over 20 years, Vanny Tousignant began designing clothing at age 12. She launched her own fashion line in 2013, utilizing rich traditional Indonesian fabrics in her designs.

Vanny Tousignant’s latest collection is entitled “Dare to Be Gold” and features a color palette of gold and red in the distinctive songket fabrics from the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

Ms. Tousignant believes that all women should not be shy about wearing whatever they like to highlight their unique personalities and characters.

Becki Bitternose Brings Exquisitely Crafted Designs to Couture Fashion Week NY

Becki Bitternose fashion show at Couture Fashion Week NYIn her debut at Couture Fashion Week New York, Canadian designer Becki Bitternose will present the latest collection for her PlayBuffalo label on the runway at 6:00 pm on Friday September 9, 2016. The fashion show will be held in the Broadway Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway in New York City.

PlayBuffalo designs are outerwear created from the Pendleton Mills Wool Blanket line. Each pattern is created free hand by Becki Bitternose without the use of patterns. Her design inspiration is her “kokums” (grandmothers) Joan and Lillian, whom she watched as a child, making beautiful hand sewn quilts. PlayBuffalo is the traditional name of Ms. Bitternose’s family, and she pays homage to her roots as she pursues her fashion career.

Becki Bitternose is from The George Gordon First Nation, Saskatchewan Canada. She started her fashion career in 2013 with no sewing experience or knowledge of using a pattern, setting out to create winter wear for her children out of Pendleton blankets they were gifted as newborns. Four hours later she had her first jacket assembled and ready for her child to wear. Over the past three years, Ms. Bitternose’s Pendleton outerwear has grown from being garments purchased solely by First Nation clientele to being a popular design across Canada, with orders pouring in from British Columbia to the east coast.

Becki Bitternose has shown her designs at many important fashion events in Canada, including National Aboriginal Fashion Week, Saskatchewan Fashion Week and International Indigenous Fashion Week. She was a selected candidate competing for the Emerging Designer Award through the Saskatchewan Fashion Week organization.

New Miuz “Sunspring” Collection Set to Shine at Couture Fashion Week NY

New Miuz fashion show at Couture Fashion Week NYIn his debut showing at Couture Fashion Week New York, designer Pawan Seewooruttun will present the latest collection for his New Miuz label at 8:00 pm on Friday September 9, 2016. The highly anticipated runway show will be held in the Broadway Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway, New York City.

Entitled “Sunspring,” New Miuz’s classic and elegant collection for Spring/Summer 2017 is inspired by the peaceful and beautiful island of Mauritius. It conveys the story of the first sunset of summer from a delightful flower garden, focusing on the sun’s transition between dawn and dusk. The primary palette is light peach, coral and ivory, reflective of the stunning tangerine and coral lights and shades that paint the sunset clouds. The collection is made of the finest silk, chiffon and tulle, among other fabrics, and is complemented with hand made embellishments such as embroidery, appliques, and Swarovski crystals.

Born and bred in Mauritius, designer Pawan Seewooruttun holds a degree in Textile and Fashion Design from the University of Mauritius. He has experience in both fashion and graphic design, with a specialization in high-end fashion and couture. His clientele is mainly based in Europe, South Africa, Reunion and Mauritius. His New Miuz brand includes wedding and evening gowns, resort wear, uniforms and accessories such as handbags, clutches, shoes and jewelry. In addition to running his own business, Mr. Seewooruttun also works as an international consultant for laser and nanotechnology finishing in Spain and Los Angeles. He has shown his designs at numerous prestigious fashion events worldwide, and has been featured in prominent publications such as Lifestyle Magazine, Scope, 5-Plus, Le Matinal and Le Defi, among others. Accolades include the Best Fashion Designer of the Year Award by Runway Dubai (2015), the Most Creative and Talented Fashion and Design Graduate by RT Knits (2011-2012), Best Designer’s Dress for Miss Mauritius (2012), and being named as a finalist in the Origin of Africa Fashion Competition. Mr. Seewooruttun has designed gowns for beauty queens including Miss Jamaica UK 2014.

UpScales Fashions 43 fashion show at Couture Fashion Week NYTexas-based designer Evelyn Suzette (Scales) Johnson will return to Couture Fashion Week New York with the presentation of the latest collection for her UpScales Fashions 43 label.  Part of the 24th season of the prestigious event, the fashion show will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway, at the “Crossroads of the World.”

UpScales Fashions 43 is a fashion brand driven by the goal to design beautifully fitted clothing that makes the wearer comfortable and happy, reflecting each client’s unique personality.  It especially strives to create a new dimension on the use of denim. Many designs are inspired by “retro” silhouettes and styles, especially from the 1960’s.

Designer Evelyn Johnson holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Networking Engineering and has worked in the electronics field for more than 30 years. She currently works at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas.  Her true passion has always been fashion, however, and she is now making that dream a reality with her own clothing line, UpScales Fashions 43. Ms. Johnson’s love for fashion began with a needle and thread at the age of 7, and she soon learned to use her mother’s sewing machine.  After high school she worked at Levis Strauss & Co. for 10 years, where she gained experience making professional jeans as well as discovering  her love for denim fabrics. This valuable knowledge and experience led to the launch of her own company.

Couture Fashion Week Heads to Nepal

Couture Fashion Week Heads to NepalDesigner and Couture Fashion Week New York founder and producer Andres Aquino will show his recent collection entitled “Romancing the Himalayas” at the Nepal Couture Fashion gala event. The show will be held at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu on August 13, 2016. The event marks Mr. Aquino’s first runway show in Nepal which will feature a selection of his signature luxurious, feminine and wearable gowns.

“I am looking forward to finding new inspirations in the stunning natural beauty of this Himalayan country, known as the rooftop of the world,” says Mr. Aquino. He will be traveling to Nepal with four talented models: Belgica Suarez (Miss Honduras Universe), Sendy Caceres (Miss Paraguay Earth), Nea McClin from Finland; and New York runway model and stylist Kelsie McKenna. In Nepal the group will be joined by actress Shristi Shrestha (Miss Nepal 2012), Anjali Lama (1st Face of Panache Runway), Malina Joshi (Miss Nepal World 2011), celebrity model Aastha Pokharel, Puza Stha (contestant for Miss Nepal 2015 and Miss Talent 2015), tecno artist Anish Anand, actor Gaurav Pahari, and a number of models, celebrities and VIPS. Sofia Turekova Brings Stunning Avant-Garde Designs to Couture Fashion Week

Sofia Turekova fashion show at Couture Fashion Week NYUp and coming design star Sofia Turekova will present the latest inspired collection for her SOF.T label at Couture Fashion Week New York at 8:00 pm on Friday September 9, 2016. Part of the event’s 24th season, the runway show will be held at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, New York City, in the heart of the Big Apple.

A native of Slovakia, designer Sofia Turekova is currently studying at the prestigious Central Saint Martins University in London. She began her career path at a young age, participating in many local and foreign fashion contests and shows. Slovakia and its culture has had a strong impact on her artwork. In 2013 the Slovak National Museum presented her folk-influenced fashion collection “Ornament” at the Maison de l’Artisanat et des Métiers d’Art in Marseille, France. In 2015 she was named the winning designer at Bratislava Fashion Days.

Ms. Turekova’s designs are conceptual and often dramatic, incorporating varying shapes aiming to express feelings via transparency and construction. The Sofia woman does not use low necklines and transparency to seduce. The Sofia woman is a confident, fearless female who can be just as seductive without revealing too much. Applied garment patterns in Ms. Turekova’s collections border between art and wearability, striving to provide the wearer with a  relaxed feeling of tasteful elegance.
